Trauma-Responsive Court Practices

Presented by Leigh Merritt and Adrienne Miller, Ph.D.

The purpose of this session is for participants to recognize what being trauma-responsive means in the context of working in Florida’s family courts, and to begin to employ a trauma-responsive approach in the courts. Within this session participants define the terms trauma, trauma-informed, and trauma-responsive; learn the signs and symptoms of trauma; recognize adverse childhood experiences; describe the impact trauma has on their work, their professional self-care and the impact on the people they work with; and begin to shift their approach to incorporate the use of a trauma-lens in the courts. To claim 1 hour CLE credit after watching this video, please refer to course number 2305820N.
